Some cookies are just meant to make an entrance. These Red Velvet Swirl Cookies are definitely one of them. ❤️

They're soft, chewy, loaded with creamy white chocolate chips, and made with two cookie doughs, one classic vanilla and one rich cocoa red velvet. Instead of choosing between the two, we swirl them together to create a cookie that's almost too pretty to eat.

Almost.

I love recipes like this because they look much more complicated than they actually are. The swirls make them feel bakery-worthy, but really, you're just playing with cookie dough, and I'm completely okay with calling that baking.

  • They look fancy without requiring fancy baking skills.

What Makes These Cookies So Good?

The fun part about these cookies is that you get two cookie flavors in one.

The vanilla dough is buttery and sweet, while the cocoa dough gives you that signature red velvet flavor. Once they're swirled together, you get a little bit of both in every bite.

And then there's the white chocolate.

Red velvet and white chocolate are one of those combinations that just work. The creamy sweetness of the white chocolate balances the cocoa flavor and makes these cookies feel extra indulgent.

Tips for Perfect Red Velvet Swirl Cookies

Don't Overmix Your Dough

Once you've added the dry ingredients, mix just until everything comes together. Overmixing can make your cookies less soft and chewy.

Keep the Two Doughs Separate

When you divide the dough, make sure you don't accidentally mix the two flavors together too much. The contrast between the vanilla and red velvet dough is what gives you that beautiful swirl.

Don't Overdo the Swirl

When you combine the little dough balls, gently smoosh them together and roll them into one ball. Don't knead the dough. You want those distinct red and vanilla sections to stay visible.

Don't Overbake!

This is probably the most important tip.

Bake until the edges are just starting to turn golden brown. The centers may still look slightly soft when you pull them from the oven, but that's exactly what you want. They'll continue baking on the hot cookie sheet.

That's how you get those soft, chewy centers.

Storage

Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.

You can also freeze the baked cookies for up to 3 months. Allow them to thaw at room temperature before serving.

For an extra fresh-baked treat, gently warm one in the microwave for a few seconds before eating. You're welcome. 😉
